What we are doing

 

In response to the worldwide pandemic, King Island Radio immediately implemented  physical distancing and hygeine practices. The station is considered an essential service for King Island. The Station Manager is the only person authorised to enter the studio or approve any other access. The maximum number permitted in the station studio, Parenna Studio and Town Hall foyer prerecording including the station manager is 2 people. 

  • We are broadcasting live in studio updates with the Mayor Julie Arnold at 12:00/2:00 pm and Podcast available on our facebook page and www.mixcloud.com/KingIslandRadio. The update is after the Tasmanian State and National reports to be factual and clarify King Island impacts, local modifications (if any)  and King Island Council actions and responses.

  • All Podcasts of broadcasts can be found on our facebook page facebook.com/kingislandradio and on the facebook King Island Noticeboard page. 

  • Subscribe (free) www.mixcloud.com/KingIslandRadio and our Podcast link to past, new programs and interviews are automatically delivered via email notifcation, link and/or through  the free Mixcloud App for Apple and Android devices. This app can be downloaded from Google Play or  Apple 

  • Programs are time extended with more interviews, more local news, more King Island voices

10:30 a.m. Church Services are broadcast and podcast

12:00  COVID-19 live update with Mayor Julie Arnold

Followed by an extended Sunday Magazine including interviews and specials

Weekly - They Played for Us We Play for Them

Performers that played at the Festival of King Island since 2013. They played for free, now we need to help them. The Program will feature past performers, their music, interviews and information on how to purchase their music and merchandise. 

Weds & Fridays 7.30 p.m. The 'special' 'live'lounge room online gigs are sponsored by King Island Radio and the Festival of King Island. The artist is paid a modest fee and free for you.  Let's buy a song or an album, share their page or host a Watch party just to support their music. Youth Week - Schools out - the kids requests take over the airwaves Weds. 3 - 4 pm

 

ANZAC Day Saturday 25 April  

We are prerecording and will broadcast and podcast the Dawn Service, Commorative Service followed by our King Island ANZAC Day program
