About
Welcome to our station, where conversations, music, and stories come together to inspire and entertain. We’re passionate about sharing voices from our community and beyond — from engaging interviews to fresh tracks and lively discussions.

King Island Radio 100.5FM is more than just a radio station — it's a sonic snapshot of our island life! We’re here to reflect the true spirit of King Island and serve our amazing community.
We see KICR as an essential lifeline — helping build and connect our tight-knit Bass Strait island community. Whether it’s during an emergency, keeping everyone informed, or simply sharing good tunes and local stories, we're proudly independent and deeply community-driven. We champion the King Island lifestyle — full of opportunity, natural beauty, and boundless character.
KICR brings the community (and visitors!) something special — localised radio content that commercial and government stations just don’t cover.

What We Offer
-
We create and broadcast programs that matter to locals — fresh, meaningful, and straight from the heart.
-
We welcome individuals and groups to jump behind the mic and create their own shows, preserving and celebrating our unique island culture.
-
We also offer basic media training, giving people the skills to get involved in everything — from scheduling and producing shows to handling admin and fundraising.
History
King Island Community Radio (KICR) hit the airwaves in 2014, born from the passion and energy of a group of locals who wanted to give the island its own voice.

Today, the station is run by King Island Community Radio Inc., an incorporated association led by President Wade Roskam, Vice President Ira Cooke, Secretary and Public Officer Pam Rolley, Treasurer Christine McLennan and committee member Jarred Perryman and Tracey Colleyer.
Our studios are based in the Science Building at King Island District High School in Currie and also at Parenna Place Studio in Naracoopa.
Since 2024, we’ve grown into something even bigger — operating under the banner of King Island RTV. Now, we’re not just on your radio — we’re live streaming island events, producing video podcasts, interviews, and documentaries.
